The new CUPE 5536 executive group finally had the chance to meet each other and engage in team-building activities. A lot was discussed during the meeting, and the whole team had the opportunity to talk through the importance of collaboration, even during challenging times.
We were asked as a group about the characteristics of effective teams. Some answers included:
- Each person carries their weight and is accountable.
- Feedback is frequent, honest, and relatively comfortable.
- Leadership shifts within the group.
- There is extensive discussion with active participation from everyone.
- The team enjoys and celebrates together.
